Consequences:
        1st time: Student redirected or cautioned by the teacher

        2nd time: Student-teacher conference is held. Parent(s) may be
  contacted about the situation

        3rd time: Student will receive a detention.

        4th time: Student will receive a detention. Parent will be             
   contacted about the situation or a meeting will be held

        Severe clause: Further insubordination will result in an office      
   referral and/or a parent-teacher-student meeting


Classroom Policies
A.  Attendance
   Absences & Tardy
 1.  Attendance will be taken daily by the teacher and office.  

 2.  Excused absences require proper documentation and   
      acceptance by the HS office.   

 3.  Three or more unexcused absences and/or tardies will result
      in detention, homework penalties, and possibly no credit for
      this course. (Please refer to pages 7-9 of the Student Handbook)

B.  Assignments
  Late Work & Unexcused absences
      1.  Work is due at the beginning of class, otherwise it is
           considered late.  Work is also considered late if you have
           it but can’t find it, you have it on your flash drive, you
           had printer issues, you swear you did it but…etc.

      2.  Late work must be turned in by the beginning of the next
           consecutive calendar day for partial credit.  It will receive
           a 25% reduction; 50% for two or more days late.  Turn all
           late work directly to the teacher.

      3.  Unexcused absences will result in a 0% on any work due that
           day.

  
Excused Absences
      1.  Students who are officially excused by the office for
           absence may turn in the assignment or complete the
           missed assignment the next time class is scheduled to
           meet (except otherwise stated in ‘Writing Expectations’).
           You are responsible for checking our class website for any
           missed work, handouts, notes etc. www.mrsgreer.net.  
           Please turn in all absent work directly to the teacher.

      2.  EMAC ACTIVITIES: If you miss an assignment that was
           assigned while away on an EMAC event, you shall have one
           week from the day you are supposed to return to school to
           make up the missed assignment(s).  Assignments given
           PRIOR to travel are due on previously assigned due dates or
           teacher arranged due dates.  

C.  Academic Honesty
      1.  All students are expected to follow the ACS Student Code of
           Ethics.

      2.  Academic dishonesty, plagiarism, and the consequences of
           dishonesty are on page 23-24 in the ACS Student Handbook.
           Refer to page 15 of the Student Handbook)

D.  Acceptable Use Policy
      *All students will abide by the ACS Aceptable Use Policy
          for lap top use.

E.  Academic Assessment
 QUARTERLY
         10%  Participation & Discussions & Reader's Response Notebook
         25%  Homework & Quizzes
         30%  Large projects & Presentations
         35%  Performance Assessment
                  -Reading skills, written literary analysis, integrated  
                   assignments, portfolio work, tests, etc.
         _______________
         Total=100% each quarter

 SEMESTER
         A semester exam will be given. The exam accounts for 20% of
         your final average each semester. For example:
         1st qtr. 40% + 2nd qtr. 40% + exam 20%=100%

F.  Office Hours
 1.  Students may schedule a time to meet individually with the
      teacher to discuss assignments, evaluations, or progress in
      class.
 2.  Students may contact the teacher also through email
 
G.  Other
     Bathroom
         Use the bathroom during break or in between classes.
         You will not be released from class unless it is an emergency.
         You will be required to have a teacher's signature in your
          ACS Agenda (Student Handbook)

     
Food & Drink
         1.  You may bring water in a clear container (with a lid or
              cap) to drink during class
         2.  Only healthy snacks are allowed in class-whole fruits or
              vegetables. NO gum, junk food, soda…

    
iPods & Cell Phones
        Ipods and cell phones are not to be on at school from 8-3 PM.
